Clatsop County Clerk Records
The Clatsop County Clerk, Records & Elections Division is the county record keeper for non-court county records. Current County Clerk Tracie Krevanko oversees records, elections, recording, marriage licenses, passports, OLCC licenses, county archives, and abandoned personal property. The Records Division records deeds, mortgages, military discharges, marriage licenses, town plats, partition plats, and related instruments.
This office should not be treated as the court clerk for Oregon court cases. Divorce decrees, civil dockets, criminal case files, probate files, guardianships, conservatorships, juvenile matters, and violations are Clatsop County Circuit Court records. The County Clerk can help with recorded documents and marriage records, while court case copies go to OJD and Circuit Court.

Clatsop County Clerk Online Search
The official county recorded-records application is records.clatsopcounty.gov. Research inspection showed the public application shell and title, but the deeper fields were not captured from a non-JavaScript view. Use the county app for recorded instruments when it works in the browser, and use email, mail, or in-person research when the app does not provide the needed record.
The Clatsop County Records Division page gives the office contact, address, and duties for county clerk research. The online application is useful for recorded county documents, but it does not replace OJD Smart Search for court case records.
Request Clatsop County Clerk Copies
The County Clerk Records Research page says requests may be mailed or emailed. Mail requests should include the completed request form, a check payable to Clatsop County Clerk, and the mailing address for the Records Division. The county says to include the document number and year of recordation. Email requests go to clerk@ClatsopCounty.gov, and payment must be made by credit or debit card.
- Search or identify the recorded document number and year of recordation.
- Use the county records app, mail request, email request, or Records Division counter.
- State whether a plain copy, certified copy, mailed copy, fax, or research service is needed.
- Include payment by mailed check for mail requests or card payment for email requests.
- Contact the Records Division if the document number or year is unknown.
The Clatsop records research page is the county source for research and copy request procedure. That source is the best match for recorded-document copy requests, not for Circuit Court judgments or hearing audio.
Clatsop Clerk Request Fields
The county request form could not be fully text-extracted in research, but county sources identify the core information needed for a useful request. The document number and year of recordation are the key fields because they let staff locate the recorded instrument faster.
| Field | Required | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Document number | Recommended | County specifically asks requesters to include it when known. |
| Year of recordation | Recommended | Helps locate the recorded document. |
| Requester name and contact | Yes | Needed for fulfillment and payment contact. |
| Copy type | Yes | Plain, certified, mailed, faxed, or researched copy. |
| Payment method | Yes | Check for mail requests; card payment for email requests. |
Clatsop County Clerk Fees
County Clerk fees apply to county recording and customer-service requests. These fees are separate from OJD court-copy and filing fees. Marriage license fees also belong to the County Clerk because marriage licensing is a county clerk function in Clatsop County.
| Clerk or Recording Fee | Amount |
|---|---|
| Research fee per document, prepaid | $3.75 |
| File location or research per quarter hour beginning with 16th minute | $15 |
| Photocopy per page | $0.25 |
| Certified copy, one-page document | $7.75 |
| Additional certified page | $0.25 per page |
| Mailing fee | $5 |
| Fax charge per document | $3 |
| Marriage license or domestic partnership | $60 |
| Three-day marriage waiver | $20 |
The Clatsop recording and customer-service fee page is the county source for fee updates. The fee schedule helps distinguish paid county research from free court-lobby viewing for some post-2009 court documents.
Clatsop County Clerk Marriage Records
The County Clerk issues and records Clatsop County marriage licenses. The county's marriage process includes an online marriage application, identity review, license activation, waiting-period rules, and certified copies after recording. Couples may apply by mail if they cannot apply online, or schedule an in-person appointment when needed.
Marriage records differ from divorce records. Certified marriage copies after local recording can come from the County Clerk. Divorce decrees must be requested from Clatsop County Circuit Court, while Oregon Health Authority issues state divorce or dissolution certificates with separate eligibility rules.
Clatsop County Public Records Requests
County department public-records requests may use the county's NextRequest portal at clatsopcountyor.nextrequest.com. That route is useful for county administration or sheriff department public records, but the portal itself points court records to Clatsop County Circuit Court rather than county administration. A request for a court judgment should not be sent to the County Clerk simply because it is a public record.
For older recorded instruments, unclear document numbers, or archive questions, the better county clerk path is direct records research through the Records Division. For an active lawsuit, divorce decree, probate order, criminal judgment, or traffic citation, use the Circuit Court or municipal court named on the record instead.
Note: The fastest request path depends on whether the record is a court case, a recorded county document, or a sheriff record.
